Tenuta Vallone today: organic winegrowers in Monferrato

Tenuta Vallone is an organic farm located in the heart of Monferrato Casalese, a UNESCO heritage site for vineyard landscapes. Historically attested, the vineyard entirely en clos covers a surface area of 2 hectares only and lies in a sunny position, on marly and calcareous soils suited to viticulture. The vineyard, pruned using the Guyot method, expresses a production of low quantity and high quality. In the field, only manual work is carried out on the vines, from pruning to harvesting. In the cellar, maceration and initial maturation in steel and eventual ageing in oak wood to obtain – among others – Grignolino, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Albarossa and Arneis of great finesse.

Tenuta Vallone yesterday: Pio Hieronymus Vidua for the rebirth of the Vallone agricultural estate

The rural building of Tenuta Vallone is an integral part of the history of Conzano and of Piedmont: it was in fact built in 1812 – on the remains of an ancient building – by Count Pio Vidua, Minister of the Interior of the Kingdom of Sardinia and father of Carlo, man of letters and explorer, friend of Cesare Balbo and founder of the Egyptian Museum in Turin. The historical farmstead maintains intact the architectural features of 18th and 19th century Monferrato rural agriculture.
